emi's
location in the White Mountains of New Hampshire affords an unparalleled
opportunity an active hiking and trip program. Each camper averages at
least one trip away from camp per week, and can participate in a
wide variety of outdoor activities.
Almost every
boy has the opportunity to participate in a two, or three or four day
campcraft trip, backpacking and hiking in the White Mountains.
A number
of special trips two days or longer are taken each summer, including several
for older campers with stays at the Appalachian Mountain Club Huts, and
expeditions to peaks in the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains in Vermont,
as well as Mount Katahdin in Maine.
Several
canoe trips are taken every year, both locally on the Baker River and
to more distant locations in New Hampshire and Maine, including the Allagash
River.
Each cabin
goes on dinner trips to campsites owned by Pemi, including several on
the shore of Lower Baker Pond. Each group also has the chance to camp
overnight in camp's Adirondack-stlye shelter on Pemi Hill.
We believe
that the experiences these trips provide are often among the valuable
and memorable parts of the camp program.
