Junior
One
Michael Bryant (Division Head), from
Packington, Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, England, just
graduated from the University of Sheffield, where he majored in
Business Studies, in his fourth season at Pemi, instructor in
swimming and waterskiing, Head of the Junior Waterfront;
Junior Two
James Bischoff, from Afton, Minnesota, just
graduated from the University of Minnesota and headed toward
graduate studies in Pharmacology, back for his tenth summer at
Pemi and a fourth-generation member of the camp family,
instructor in baseball and tennis;
Junior Three
Chris Bryant, from the same extended
hometown in England as his brother Michael (See Junior One
entry), second-year student at the University of Manchester,
first season here, instructor in tennis and soccer;
Junior Four
Will Edwards, from New York City, entering
his sophomore year at Lehigh University where he is majoring
in Civil Engineering, eighth season at Pemi, instructor in
basketball, soccer and archery;
Junior Five
Jake Fauver, from Chatham, NJ, entering his
sophomore year at Middlebury College, eighth season at Pemi
and another one of those fourth-generation fellows, instructor in
soccer, track and archery;
Junior Six
Will Mashburn, from Clearwater, Florida,
entering his senior year at the University of South Florida where
he is majoring in Environmental Science, arrived at Pemi a
week ago after a two-week walk on the Appalachian Trail,
second Pemi season, instructor in tennis, music and nature;
Junior Tent
Jeff Miller, from New York, New York,
entering his sophomore year at Washington University, ninth
season at Pemi, instructor in tennis, basketball and goalkeeping
(soccer, that is);
Lower One
Mike Schmidt, from the Bronx, NY, entering his
junior year at Yale University, majoring in history with an
interest in teaching, seventh summer here, instructor in baseball
(yes, hes a third baseman), tennis and music;
Lower Two
Jack Bierwirth, from Bronxville, NY, entering
his junior year at Bucknell University, majoring in Civil
Engineering, eighth season at Pemi, instructor in basketball,
tennis and swimming;
Lower Three
Matt Cowlard, from Epsom, Surrey, England,
majoring in American Studies at Nottingham University, first
season at Pemi, instructor in sailing, campcraft and soccer;
Lower Four
Two counselors for the price of one! First Half:
Will Howerton, from Concord, Massachusetts, entering his
sophomore year at Georgetown, majoring in Political Science,
first season at Pemi, instructor in soccer, sailing and baseball;
Second Half: Josh Fischel (!), from Hanover, New Hampshire,
graduate of Amherst, former teacher of Will Howerton at St.
Marks School, now in graduate school at the University of
Michigan, working on a Masters degree in Public Policy, 10th
summer as a Pemi staff member, instructor in track, basketball,
and nature, one of four Bean Soup editors;
Hill Tent Zack Frosch, from Newton, Massachusetts,
entering his junior year at Wesleyan University, majoring in
Psychology, returning for his eighth season, instructor in
waterskiing, photography and baseball;
Lower Five
David Fortunato (Division Head), from
Princeton, New Jersey, a junior in the fall at Amherst, member
of the rugby team there, eighth season at Pemi, instructor in
baseball, tennis and rugby;
Lower Six
Lee Seymour, from Milton, Massachusetts,
entering sophomore year at Yale, majoring in Theater Studies,
fourth summer here, instructor in drama, music and nature;
Lower Seven
Brian Forster, from Trumbull, Connecticut, a
junior at the University of Connecticut, majoring in History,
occasional sumo wrestler, eighth season at Pemi, instructor in
basketball, music and baseball (in the manner of Don Zimmer);
Upper One
David van Dusschoten, from Kollum,
Netherlands, majoring in Sports Leadership at Alfa College,
expert rock climber, first summer at Pemi, instructor in archery
and kayaking;
Upper Two
David Travis, from Finningley, Doncaster,
England, majoring in Business Property Management at
Sheffield University, highly rated rugby player for Scumthorpe
United, first Pemi season, instructor in rugby, nature and
orienteering;
Upper Three
Willy Friedman (Division Head), from New
York, New York, just graduated from Wesleyan University,
majored in Sociology and French, headed to Paris in the fall,
10th season at Pemi, instructor in shop, baseball and music;
Upper Four - Conor Shaw, from Washington, D.C.,
sophomore at
Middlebury College majoring in Political
Science, just returned from the NSCAA national soccer
coaching course, eighth Pemi season, instructor in soccer and
windsurfing;
Senior One
Christopher Allom, from Peterborough, England,
a third-year student at DeMontfort University, majoring in
Physical Education, second summer at Pemi, instructor in
rugby, soccer and basketball;
Senior Two
Thibaut Delage, from Geneva, Switzerland,
entering his senior year at Cornell University, majoring in
Industrial Engineering, seventh summer here, instructor in
soccer, swimming and conditioning;
Senior Three
Ken Moore (Division Head), from Lakewood,
Ohio, graduate of Kenyon College, entering his teaching career
at Phillips-Osborne School in Cleveland this fall, thirteenth
season at Pemi, Head of Waterfront, instructor in swimming,
basketball and lifesaving;
Lake Tent
James Finley (Division Head), from Hillsdale,
New York, graduate of Grinnell College, returning to
Springfield (VT) High School for his second year as an English
teacher, tenth summer here, instructor in baseball, track and
nature.
