Preparation and Commitment

The combined effects of the altitude, heavy packs, the elements, and rugged terrain will challenge you physically. We expect you to arrive with a reasonable level of physical fitness and with a willingness to push yourself.

You will be living with and working closely with seven of your peers. We expect you to be a positive, supportive influence within your group. We will ask you to set personal goals for the course and to commit to the achievement of your goals.

We hope you will bring an interminable curiosity and an openness to new ideas and experiences. If you do, you may learn more in three weeks than you have the rest of your life!

Here's what some have said:

"This program has helped me become more independent and self-sufficient. I am much more confident in my outdoor skills. I also met many great people whom I had a lot in common with and enjoyed being with." - Katie (age 15)

"The biggest challenge I faced was to lead my group up Snowmass Mountain and having to make the decision to turn back before reaching the summit." - Hugh (age 16)

"(Our instructors) were supportive, funny, organized, creative, caring, and I felt like they were my friends and not superiors."
- Anonymous
