Facilities for outdoor sports include two soccer fields, one of which rivals most university game fields. There are three baseball diamonds, a baseball batting cage with pitching machine, a lacrosse field, two beautifully maintained waterfront areas, two basketball courts, a volleyball court, archery ranges, seven red clay tennis courts, two lodges for indoor events, several campfire and picnic areas, and numerous hiking trails. Pemi's large collection of watercraft includes a power boat for water-skiing, a sixteen foot safety launch, sixteen Grumman canoes, six Sunfish, three large day sailboats, seven rowboats, seven sailboards for windsurfing, and seven kayaks. The Counselor Memorial Library contains a permanent collection of 2000 books, current periodicals, and ample room for reading, writing and quiet games. The nature lodge is a fully equipped museum and laboratory, with scientific equipment, tools and storage space. The recently-completed Phillip D. Reed Memorial Library is connected to the nature lodge, and contains a large collection of reference books and field guides. There are extensive, constantly changing collections of butterflies and moths, rocks and minerals, plants, animals and other exhibits. The woodworking and craft shop has a wide variety of hand and power tools and supplies for numerous activities including woodworking, pottery, ceramics, drawing and painting. The infirmary is staffed by two Registered Nurses on round-the-clock duty, and is fully-equipped to handle the normal medical needs of the camp community. The senior lodge is the nerve center of camp, containing the office, the camp store, and mailboxes for campers and staff. It is the location for all major indoor gatherings and entertainment. The junior lodge provides a recreational for younger campers. |
