Soccer
at Pemi
ampers
interested in soccer at Camp Pemi will find a wealth of instructional
and playing opportunities. During morning occupations, boys can receive
instruction in a wide variety of team and individual tactics, ranging
in skill level from beginner to advanced. Emphasis is on skill development,
using drills and a progressive level of game situations. Campers can then
practice their skill in a number of different intramural and intercamp
games. Soccer is played against other camps on every age level, with an
emphasis on participation. There are also many intramural game, ranging
from informal cabin challenges to the highly-popular Cabin Tournament
during Pemi Week.
Instruction
is also offered in particular skill areas, especially goalkeeping. There
is a separate instructional period for goalkeepers, with drills and practice
equal to that at any soccer camp.
Pemi
has always benefited from a number of experienced soccer coaches. Current
instructors include:
- Schuyler Fauver,
currently a coach at the Fessenden School,
- Zach Rossetti,
a certified referee and former coach at New Hampton School,
- Charlie Malcolm,
currently reserve coach at Northfield Mount Hermon School,
- Assistant Director
Jon Fauver was a standout for several Ivy League Championship teams
at Brown, and is an active youth coach,
- Rob Grabill,
an intercollegiate head coach for nine years and current Assistant at
Dartmouth College. Rob was New Hampshire Youth Soccer Coach of the Year
in 1995.
A number of Pemi
counselors who are active college varsity players play an integral role
in teaching and coaching. Among the colleges represented in recent years
are Colby, Richmond, Dartmouth, Bowdoin and Middlebury.
