Boys Summer Sports Camp Programs in NH

Pemi's intramural and inter-camp athletic program combines broad participation and excellent coaching in a number of sports, so that every boy who wishes may take part.

Don't miss this 3-minute YouTube video featuring highlights of the 2011 day of competition with Camp Tecumseh. Final score of the day: Pemi 9, Tecumseh 9, with 2 ties. Excellent team play and sportsmanship all 'round.

Inter-Camp Sports Programs

We offer inter-camp sports in 5 age groups, ensuring that no boy has to compete with or against boys more than a year older or younger than he. With the exception of rare limitations for travel, there are no boys "cut" from Pemi's teams. Coaches are instructed to give all boys equal time in practice, and to allow as many as possible to compete during inter-camp athletic games.

We view competition with other camps in New Hampshire as an occasion to instruct boys in the values of unselfish team participation, good sportsmanship, respect for teammates, opponents, coaches and officials, and an appreciation for the value of hard work aimed toward improvement. Pemi teams try their best to win, but never at the expense of these values. We learn to accept victory and defeat with equally good grace and composure.

Inter-camp competition is offered in the following sports: Soccer, Tennis, Baseball, Swimming, Lacrosse, Track & Field, Archery, Water Polo, Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee

Intramural Sports

Pemi offers intramural competition in a number of individual and team sports as a bridge between the morning instructional program and the inter-camp teams, with an emphasis on participation and fun. During "Pemi Week," the final week of the season, close to 100% of the boys participate in cabin competition and individual championships. We are delighted, however, that competitiveness does not undermine fun and enjoyment, as "color wars" at other camps can do.

Water Sports

In addition to the sports mentioned above, Pemi has a full-range of water sports. We are fortunate to be the only occupants on the lake, ensuring a environment without public boat traffic for campers to enjoy instruction and free time in canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and waterskiiing.

Most of the counselors who coach, instruct, and officiate are college athletes, and many of them have years of experience. All of the program heads have at the very least high school coaching experience, and several have coached on the college level. Setting the standard is Charlie Malcolm, Pemi's Athletic Director, who recently won a prestigious award for excellence in teaching.
