Camp Pemigewassett

Pemi Week

Beginning with the celebrated Brad Jones Day in the morning, when everyone is permitted to sleep in for as much of the morning as they can manage, and Games Day in the afternoon, wherein cabin groups compete in events like cold-water musical chairs and the Championship-of-the-World Egg Toss, Pemi Week represents the culmination of the camp season. Throughout the seven days, events are designed to draw cabins and divisions together in various competitive challenges, on the one hand, and also to showcase the talents and achievements of the individual campers. Athletic challenges including Divisional Archery Championships, a Pentathlon, and a Cabin Soccer tournament for every division, are complemented by a Vaudeville show, two performances of our annual Gilbert & Sullivan operetta, an art show with a formal opening, and a final campfire and Bean Soup. Our unique Pemi Triathlon (swim, run, two-person canoe race), like most of the other events, inspires the participation of nearly every boy at Camp. Pemi Week culminates in our Final Banquet, a shamelessly lavish culinary indulgence followed by awards and recognition for achievement and participation in every facet of camp life. At the conclusion of the Banquet, special awards are presented to boys for their progress in multiple aspects of the camp program and for their overall contributions to the morale and well-being of others. The energy and enthusiasm of the whole community always peak during Pemi Week, a fitting conclusion to a long season of self-discovery, self-improvement, and community living.
