Now completing its 102nd year of publication, Pemi's "newspaper," Bean Soup, offers a comprehensive sampling of accounts of every significant event of every season — and some insignificant (or imaginary) ones as well. We honestly know of nothing else like it at any other camp, potpourri as it is of exacting fact, dizzying whimsy, and irreverent wit — perhaps a journalistic cross between PBS's News Hour, SportsCenter, and The Daily Show. Written by campers and staff and read aloud every Monday evening at camp, Bean Soup offers the opportunity for boys to sharpen their creative and/or reporting writing skills, and to be published authors! The Soup is complied, edited, printed, and bound each year, and is mailed to every member of the current camp family in December, providing a full tally of the season's awards, newsletters, and addresses to allow folks to stay in touch and plan for the coming season.
We are currently starting on the exciting project of digitalizing all 102 past editions of Bean Soup so that alums, campers, and friends can access them online, in a searchable format.
